PC1000

World 1000-mile Pedal Car record attempt
at Curborough Sprint Circuit

Race plan

Easter Weekend 2002
Good Friday, March 29th to Easter Monday, April 1st

PC1000 race plan.

It's no good going into something as massive as a 1,000 mile record attempt without a good sound plan that not only gets as much as possible from your drivers, but also allows all of them to have a decent amount of sleep and time to digest major meals. Repeated, 3 hours on / 3 hours off shifts, as you might use in a 24, simply wont do it.

So, here's the plan that team manager Chris Featherstone devised, based on a target of 66 hours. It worked remarkably well...

Sponsors:

Great Central Racing gratefully acknowledge the help and support of the following companies and organisations, without whom PC1000 would not have happened:

The Shenstone and District Car Club (www.curborough.co.uk) very kindly allowed PC1000 to use Curborough circuit for free, even going as far as cancelling a race meeting they would normally have held on Easter Saturday; PC1000 is very grateful for this.

Racelogic (www.racelogic.co.uk) lent PC1000 one of their hi-tech, GPS-based VBOX systems for the event for speed and distance measurement. The VBOX was successfully tested on the car during the February 25th test day at Curborough, producing some very interesting and useful data.

Travelodge, Burton-on-Trent (A38 Northbound) supplied two family rooms at reduced rate, plus gave complimentary continental breakfasts to those team members in the hotel at breakfast time.

HSS Hire Shops
HSS Hire shops supplied a assortment of equipment for the PC1000
record attempt, including three generators and an array of lighting equipment.

Phoenix Computers Phoenix (www.phoenix-comp.co.uk) is one of the UK's premier IT providers delivering a broad band of products and services to some of the UK's largest corporate, education and government organisations. Phoenix generously agreed to donate a Dell 17" PC monitor worth £200; this will be given away to one lucky private sponsor, in the prize draw to be held shortly and open to all those who sponsored at least 1p per mile (£10 total).
Miller Pattison Ltd Insulation specialists Miller Pattison kindly made a cash donation to PC1000
