Get a pedalcars.info email address!

Is you email address something like "yourname@useraccount_9346.someobscureISP.co.uk"?

Would you like to have a nice, shiny, new address at pedalcars.info?

Well, now you can, in exchange for a modest donation to the BFPCR, which will go towards the cost of the BPCC's public liability insurance, which has more than quadrupled in recent years.

Thanks to the web hosting supplied by www.alpconsultants.co.uk, we can now create @pedalcars.info email accounts, distribution lists, or diverts to go to your existing email address. These can be made available for any teams or individuals who are involved or interested in the sport, to give you an easily memorable contact address.

Account options:

Your address can be:

A simple divert (to bounce incoming mail to your current email address); OR,
A full email account, allowing you to send and receive email from the account; you would also be able to use the account as a web-based email service (like Hotmail, Yahoo, etc., but better in some respects*); ALTERNATIVELY,
A distribution list, that would enable you to send email to, for example, your entire team.

You will be able to change your address between a divert and a full account at any time; however distribution lists are currently managed by the webmaster. It is strongly recommended that you do NOT make distribution list addresses public, ever.

*Many web forums, bulletin boards, etc, do not allow registrations from Hotmail and similar free web-based email addresses. Plus you get much more storage space with pedalcars.info!

What you get:

A real email account, with POP and SMTP servers, which can also be used (simultaneously) as a web-based email service. The account can alternatively be set as a simple divert such that any email sent to your chosen address @pedalcars.info will be automatically forwarded to your existing email address. This setting can be changed, either way, at any time, by you.
Ability to set an auto-response, so people emailing you will know their message is being correctly delivered.
20MB of email storage space (initially) - this is TEN TIMES more than Hotmail and FIVE TIMES more than Yahoo (at time of writing).

What we get:

A donation to help pay for our vastly increased insurance costs. Which will mean if you crash into a spectator and injure them, they wont sue you personally for half a million pounds. So you benefit here as well!

What you don't get:

An internet dialup account. Pedalcars.info is NOT an Internet Service Provider nor has it any plans to become one. You must have internet access (even if it's only at an internet cafe!) to use this service. But if you don't already have this, the chances of you reading this page are pretty slim!

Please note, these terms and conditions may be amended from time to time and without notice.

Minimum donation £10 (ten pounds, sterling)**, payable to "BFPCR". This donation will give you your chosen address (subject to the these terms and conditions, and provided no-one else has already requested it) for 12 months initially. Subject to future financial considerations and popularity, this period may be extended indefinitely; however it may remain at 12 months, effectively making your address renewable annually. PLEASE NOTE THIS DOES NOT CONSTRUE A SALE OR SUBSCRIPTION; the provision of an email account is simply a free "thank you" for giving additional support to the sport of Pedal Car Racing in the UK.
Personal addresses will normally only be assigned in the form my.name@pedalcars.info or "myteam.manager@", "myteam.technician@", "myteam.myname@", etc. Please don't ask for a single-name address such as "john@pedalcars.info" because there are several hundred active participants in the sport in the UK alone, so the chance of you being the only John is somewhat slim! Please also don't ask for anything that might bring the sport into disrepute, be construed as offensive or look entirely unprofessional, like "Eimer-gimp", "a-phrase-i-made-up-last-week", etc. You wont get it.
You will not use your @pedalcars.info email address to send offensive, defamatory, pornographic or otherwise illegal messages or content to anyone, ever. If you do, or if you use the address in any other manner which may bring the sport into disrepute, the address may be suspended or permanently deleted, at our discretion, without warning and without refund of your donation.
If you use your @pedalcars.info address as a simple divert and your existing email address changes (i.e., the one that your @pedalcars.info address diverts to), it is your responsibility to amend the settings on your account - if you don't, you may miss emails!
You're free to list your @pedalcars.info email address in any reputable location (for example, in the forum section of this website); however we will NOT list personal addresses anywhere on this or any other website without your permission. This is to minimise the amount of spam your address receives.

"Team" addresses:

"Team" addresses - e.g. gcr@pedalcars.info, killay@pedalcars.info, etc. are offered as an optional part of the team registration process from 2003, but only as simple diverts assigned to the team manager of that team (or his or her designated deputy). These "Team" diverts can be upgraded to full accounts OR distribution lists (so that email to yourteam@pedalcars.info would be sent to all members of your team) in return for a donation (£10 minimum**, as for personal addresses).

**Feel free to donate more if you feel that a full email service, accessible from anywhere on the planet with an internet connection, or a full-team distribution list, is worth more than a rather paltry 83p per month.
