Apollo Racing

New team but familiar faces...
18 December 2008

Apollo Racing are in the final stages of putting together a package which will see the team race 2 Apollo/J PC1 prototypes in all rounds of the Dobson White Partnership British Pedal Car Championship during the 2009 season plus the New Milton Grand Prix and a singleton entry for the 24 hours of St. Etienne (budget permitting).

You don't exactly have to be a genius to work out that this team comprises the surviving members from Radioactive and Great Central Racing, who both closed their doors at the end of 2008, together with a trio of up and coming youngsters who started showing very well in the Swebbelli PC1 car from Blackbushe onwards.

Whilst being fierce rivals on the track, the three teams had become very good friends away from the racing during the past few seasons so it makes sense to race together and see what happens. The emphasis is on having a great time and racing with friends but by the end of the 2009 season Apollo Racing will be looking for podium finishes.

Great Central always had a car advantage over the two customer teams last year but not the legs to make full use of it - now we will see what the younger drivers can do in the next development of the car. It should be interesting.

The first meeting of the new team was actually held in the kitchen at Earleywood camp site the night between the two Blackbushe rounds last year but it has taken until now to get things far enough advanced to be able to release this information with a degree of confidence.

There are still a few things to put in place, a couple of drivers to find for the Shenington 24 hour and the second car to build (the first being the ex-GCR machine) so plenty still to do before numbers 44 and 45 roll on to the grid on April 5th...
